This afternoon tour focuses on the roots of Carnival and tells the story of Mobile as the birthplace of Mardi Gras in America. It was here that the first mystic society was created in 1830, well before the first krewe was formed in New Orleans. We begin at the Malaga Inn, an historic inn that’s closely identified with modern Mardi Gras history. We walk to the spot where Mobile Mardi Gras parades are created, and stop at the Carnival Museum, along with the den of the oldest existing mystic society in America! We will walk along much of the parade route and learn more about Carnival History. Guests will receive a set of commemorative Mobile Mardi Gras beads and will take home the Mardi Gras trivia game to test their knowledge!
